Lifting Awards 2025 gains strong industry support with new sponsors

Africa’s lifting, rigging and materials handling industry is set to receive long-overdue recognition at the inaugural Lifting Awards 2025 on 29 August 2025 at the Birchwood Conference Centre in Boksburg, Johannesburg.

Industry leaders are rallying behind the event, and Acrow, Electra Mining, Haggie and RGM Cranes have joined as bronze sponsors, while Yoke and RiConnect are confirmed as platinum sponsors.

Organised by Lifting Africa, a leading industry magazine, the awards will honour excellence in safety, innovation, training and leadership. They will highlight the crucial role that lifting, rigging and materials handling play in supporting Africa’s industrial and economic growth.

“The Lifting Awards will shine a spotlight on the companies and individuals driving progress in this industry,” says Surita Marx, Managing Director of Lifting Africa. “It’s more than just an event – it’s a celebration of those setting new benchmarks in safety, efficiency and innovation.”

The awards will feature multiple categories: Safety and Training, Innovation of the Year, Innovation in Service, Apprentice/Technician of the Year, Excellence in Engineering and Lifting Operation. Additionally, Project of the Year, Industry Leader and Rising Star awards will be presented, ensuring recognition across all key areas of the sector.

With sponsorship opportunities still available, Marx highlights the value of industry support in making the event successful. “Sponsorship is an investment in the future of our industry. The backing of companies like Yoke, RiConnect, Acrow, Electra Mining, Haggie and RGM Cranes demonstrates a shared vision for raising standards and fostering skills development.”

The deadline for award entries is 1 May 2025 and industry professionals are encouraged to submit nominations, attend or sponsor to be part of this milestone event.

“Awards like these are essential for any industry, as they acknowledge hard work, inspire innovation and encourage continuous improvement. By celebrating excellence, we help drive the industry forward and showcase the dedication of those shaping its future,” concludes Marx.
